As Morris and Frank reach the house on Ellroy street after running from more of the strange monsters and managing to make their way here, they hear a women scream from inside the two story home.

Frank blinks and then checks to see the fastest way in and up - including rushing up a fire escape or even a sturdy rain gutter or trellis.

As Frank makes it to the second story window, Morris scrambles around in the garden as if looking for something before coming up with a front door key and moving to go and unlock the front door.

The sound of scrabbling outside the window makes Viveca look towards it, wide-eyed for a second - then before she can even make out more than a vague man-shaped figure she's rolling off the bed. She doesn't stop rolling when she hits the floor, moving for the closet - still half in dream mode, skin drenched in sweat and hands shaking with the aftereffects of her terror

Sheriff Moody keeps spare guns in the basement, not the second floor - if he wants a gun under his pillow he has a sidearm he wears for work - but that doesn't mean there's no weapons available. Viveca dives into the closet, staying low inside it as she reaches for the baseball bat she used to keep there.

((don't have to actually find one - it's what she's trying to find, whether it's there is another matter.))

((I have no idea if she finds anything or not. lol.))

Frank tries the window and peers in - checking for more effing monsters before he goes in - if its not locked, anyway - if it is, he will break the glass out with the axehead and go in, on the defensive and ready to attack or run.

Frank shatters the glass as Viveca finds the baseball bat Morris mounts the stairs and calls out, "Viv?!" He is going to take a little bit to get up there even though he's taking the stairs two at a time.

Viveca (after deliberation with the ST) finds the bat and she sighs in relief, fingers closing on wood and grasping it tightly. The relief is short-lived - the shattering glass puts her back on full alert again. She gets to her feet, staying crouched low at first as she peers out the darkened half-opened door of the closet at Frank. It's been 30 years - she doesn't really recognize him, not in the dark, and even if she did, he just burst through her window with an axe. She straightens up carefully, readying the bat.

Then she hears Morris.

Him, she knows. He stayed around Silent Hill too for the most part and he's still a friend of hers. She manages to keep from just shouting his name out in surprised relief but she untenses slightly, reassessing the situation. She had woken up screaming - in fact it could be argued that the sound of her scream woke her up. Was this guy with Morris? It seemed a bit strange to come in the window but then again this mist-filled world seemed a bit strange too and if he didn't know Morris could get in, it might've seemed the quickest way to help. Still - he might be a threat Morris is trying to warn her about. Decisions decisions.

"Freeze," she barks in her best 'cop' voice - mostly keeping her anxiety out of it - as she says, "I'm armed - stay right where you are. Who are you and how do you know Morris?"

Frank ... well, ignored her, looking for (a gang member) a monster. He wasn't even looking directly at her, scanning the room. "Morris? It looks kinda normal here, i think we've done something stupid."

Morris makes his way to the top of the stairs, feet hitting the stairs he gets to the top of the stairs and tries to catch his breath, he's been doing a lot of running recently it will take him another post to actually get to the bedroom.

Viveca is not happy to be ignored - but the fact that she can hear Morris in the hallway and this guy - whoever he is - actually talking to Morris reassures her a little. Provided...

"If that's really Morris then whoever the hell you are you've done something right," Viveca says in a dry, almost humorless tone. "I'm coming out, try not to take my head off with the axe, alright?"

"I don't actually kill women." Frank said dryly. "Frank Blackarrow. Morris and i grew up together." He stands down after one more scan for monsters or baddies. "Looks clear, Morris."

He tipped his head. "We heard screaming. I'd rather scare the crap out of someone than just let them be eaten alive if i could stop it."

Morris will lean on the bedroom door, he's panting because well he's been running around since Frank met him he has the partly bloody pipe in one hand and he pants against the door. "Hi... Viv... you not being attacked by monsters? I'm going to rest right here..." Morris says before kneeling down and panting.

Viveca raises an eyebrow as she steps out of the closet, still wearing pajamas - proper pajamas, not a nightgown, though she's wearing shorts not full length pants. She looks at Frank, blinking at the introduction.

"Frank Blackarrow, yeah, I remember you." Viveca smiles slightly, adding, "not well, but I remember you."

She actually remembers him best from news and police bulletins - when he was being hunted, police in the areas around his old home were alerted in case he came that way, but he never made it to Silent Hill before this. She knows the name, the mugshot, and the story behind it. She could sympathize with his situation all too well.

His words make her smirk weakly. "Getting eaten? Not unless you count in my nightmares," Viveca jokes lamely, trying to make light of the dream that had woken her.

Morris pokes his head in and Viveca turns towards him, smiling in relief. She moves over to his side and kneels down, wrapping her arms around him in a quick, enthusiastic hug.

"Morris, thank god. Everyone's been worried sick about you," she says, then draws back enough to punch him lightly in the arm. "Where the hell did you go?"

Frank just stood guard, more or less - human contact wasnt' really his things these days and he was an outsider in this relationship. And he didnt' really think getting to know people was all that good an idea, what with him being either dead or a wanted escaped prisoner and all.

"Ow! hey I've been here in this.. weird fog world," Morris says looking a little hurt, "I was worried some women without a face was eating you... " Morris will put his hand into his jacket and take out the revolver he's been carrying, "You let me hold onto this. thanks. I don't know how to explain what's going on but we'll give you a moment to get dressed."

"Oh don't be a baby," Viveca says with a smirk, but she smiles at the offer of the gun. "Thanks," she says, reaching for it, but holding it for a moment. "Are you sure you don't need it? And..." she pauses, about to ask questions about what's going on before he mentions her getting dressed and she sighs.

"Alright. I'll have to borrow some stuff from Cindi - long story. Just a second." Straightening she moves towards the door, heading down the hall, calling a couple times for Cindi even as she enters the master bedroom to borrow some clothes.

"I get the impression she's not seeing the same things we're seeing, Morris. ... Do you suppose she's dreaming this? That you're stuck in the dream world or something?" Frank said quietly. "Or is she in another world entirely? I'd sure like to know more about what's going on."

"Yesh I think I need all the help I can get but I think you're a better shot then I am and I think you'll need it yourself." Morris says before Vivi heads off.

"I think she just joined us." Morris says watching after her as no one replies to her calls. "I feel bad, I feel bad you're here too, I feel bad that I'm here!" Morris sighs and let's his back rest against the wall. "Give me a moment to rest."

Viveca is gone maybe a couple of minutes, returning fully dressed in a pair of jeans and a t-shirt with a couple of paint splotches on it. She's frowning thoughtfully as she looks at Morris and Frank, eyes settling on Morris finally as the person she knows best of the pair.

"Alright, spill it," she says. "Dad's not here, Cindi's not here, there's a weird grey fog and you're worried about women without faces eating me?" She shakes her head. "I'd ask if you'd suddenly started taking LSD if it weren't for everything else. What the hell is going on?"

"He's dead on about the monsters.  I saw one of them - looked like a woman, mostly, but her face was all mouth full of sharp teeth.  I'm betting she had teeth everywhere, if you know what i mean.  Nightmare monsters.  Mine all have the tattoos that my wife's murderer wore."  Not collectable though - can't skin rotten hide off something.  the stink was attrocious.  So, like when he could not take the time to skin the tatt off them, he just defaced it.

But Frank wasn't going to mention that.  People were so squeamish.

"I see your taking the Morris is on drugs angle rather then the your ex wife has finally gone completely psychotically insane. That is very classie of you Viv." Morris say in a tired manner and let's his head rest on the wall. "I'm glad your not hurt."

Viveca raises her eyebrows and looks worried and a bit skeptical at Frank's assessment of the monster women. They sound fantastic in the highly unbelievable way - but then she remembers the nightmare that woke her and she shudders.

"Sounds like something out of a nightmare. Are you sure you guys are okay?"

She looks over to Morris as he speaks and she smirks.

"Morris, I've seen your ex. She might be a skank, but she's a skank with a face." She sobers after a second and moves closer to Morris, putting her hand on his shoulder.

"Morris, when's the last time you got some sleep?"

"I got some water and some painkillers into him. Not much else. Sorry about your window. Maybe we should hole up here, get some rest - I've been walking and on my feet for awhile now and I know for a fact Morris has been up longer than i have."

Frank was worried about Morris - he was like ... a lifeline to his former self, before his humanity, his reality as a human being was completely erased and all that remained was the vengeful spirit in his shell. If he didnt' think about it too hard, he almost felt normal again. If morris weren't here - that could end. So even aside from more altruistic thoughts, frank's reasoning for wanting morris around could be considered completely selfish.

"I was trying to be funny... guess it fell a little flat sorry." Morris says and shakes his head. "I don't remember when I slept last, awake and sleep seem to melt together here. I think I might just take a nap right here."

Morris says and closes his eyes sitting upright against the wall.

Viveca gives Frank a slightly distrusting look - she wasn't close with either of them at the orphanage, having gotten to know Morris as more than 'that kid who's okay and doesn't bother me too much' after both were adopted. Frank she knows more from his record of killings and while she sympathizes with the reasons the methods seemed... excessive.

She's on the other side of Morris and helps him up too, not objecting to Frank's assistance. She frowns and looks at the bed, then at the window.

"Mark's old room is empty and the window's intact. How about you lay down in there in case Cindi and Dad show up?" she asks Morris - still a bit confused about the fog and the lack of family who should be here. She hasn't been running all over town proving to herself that there doesn't seem to be anyone in it but them.

"I hope they don't." Morris says getting to his feet. He will move towards the hallway before stopping. "Does your dad still have that gun collection in the basement?" he asks in a curious manner.

"Not sure most pistols will take down some of the things we've seen. A hunting rifle - that might do the trick, if its not just a popgun. Shotgun would take care of the shoe sized bugs, more than likely." Frank looked at Viveca. "If you have weapons here, we need to assess them. Any kind of flammable aerosol might be good, too, and a lighter. I don't wanna burn down the town, but I also am prepared to do what i have to to survive as long as its feasible."

He'll help her get morris onto whatever bed to which she points them.

Viveca frowns at Frank in concern, but keeps quiet until they herd Morris into her younger brother's bedroom and pour him into bed. She pulls off Morris's shoes and tosses them near the bed, giving him a smirk and saying, "from here on in you're on your own." Then she glances over at Frank, looking thoughtfully concerned, and says, "can I talk to you?" tilting her head towards the door.

Frank frowns slightly - not sure if ditching the shoes was a good idea, but he would rest better and in theory, they were in a defendable spot. He made sure the window was secure and then headed out to the hall, waiting to be directed somewhere else.

"Here or do you have another place in mind?"

"Nah, here's fine," Viveca says, leaning against the wall outside the bedroom. If they talk quietly it shouldn't wake the exhausted Morris - and if she has to holler for him to run, he'll hear her easily.

"I'm just confused as hell and concerned. What the hell is going on? You're talking about monsters being all over the place like it's normal and I'd be considering whether you were high if it weren't for the fact that things are weird for me too - this fog that wasn't on the forecast and the fact that Cindi's nowhere to be found.

"All I know for sure is my childhood friend Morris went missing at least two weeks ago - when he finally turns up it's in the company of a felon who last I heard was serving hard time for multiple murder."

Viveca's face is grim and her tone the somewhat cold, no nonsense timbre of a cop used to getting straight answers, or shaking the problem until one falls out. She lifts a hand to forestall comment.

"I'm not even going to go into the details of your case. It's not the issue. What is the issue is for me, is you're out pretty early for someone who was facing at least 25 to life and you turning up with my missing friend, both of you talking about monsters makes me more than just a little bit concerned. Morris seems too exhausted to follow a straight line of conversation so like it or not it's up to you to help me make sense of this before we go looking for anything else with a trigger."

"We've encountered monsters. . You haven't. That sums it up, I guess. Everything is weird and like a nightmare, and apparently you won't believe morris until you see it, that's fine." Frank said, all warmth and humanity gone. "That's what's going on."

Viveca sighs and rubs the bridge of her nose. Yeah, she can feel a headache coming on from the circular answers. Morris she can understand and forgive - she's got a greater base of familiarity with him than with Frank, having known Frank only to see him at the orphanage, rather than spending 'quality time' with the older boy, and she knows the situation of Morris's disappearance better. The 'justification' behind his murder spree was something she could empathize with - but he'd taken it to extremes, and trusting him is hard and getting harder.

"Alright," Viveca says, voice completely flat now. Before it had been a bit demanding - now it's just sour. "So you know nothing beyond what's already been said and you're half deaf to boot, or just not listening to everything I've said. Alright. I won't bother you with more questions, Mr. Blackarrow." She didn't refer to him formally before and now she uses the name like a wall between them.

Viveca's never more wanted to be twins - she doesn't want to leave Morris alone for even a minute, but she doesn't trust Frank alone, either, so she's finding herself torn. She smiles tightly and adds, "shall we go back in and wait for Morris to wake up?"

"You only asked one question and I don't know the answer, and what i said is the truth as i know and understand it." Frank said, voice disinterested and remote. Retreating to the quiet place where the fury did not burn him up alive. "Do what you want. I'll be going now. Morris will be safe with you."

Viveca sighs and makes a slight growling noise - or maybe it's just grumbling. She puts her head back in her hand for a second and then takes a deep breath before raising it again to look at Frank.

"But will you be safe?" she asks in a quiet tone that sounds equal parts exasperation and genuine concern.

"If I thought you were an immediate threat to Morris or me, I'd have drawn on you already. I'm worried. This is the first I've seen of Morris for two weeks and he's in rough shape - but not as rough as I'd feared he'd be. You seem to be helping him, and that gets you more credit than you might think.

"My problem is I'm not able to get an answer I fully understand out of Morris about what's going on - with the fog, with where everyone's gone and where the hell these monsters have apparently come from - and you seem more prepared to hare off on your own than cooperate. If that's really what you want, fine. I won't stop you. But maybe, just maybe, working together would be more productive?"

"Why do you think that Morris and I know more than you do about it? Do you think either one of us wants to be here?"

He suddenly smiled - there was no warmth, and the humor was all of the gallows. "You are here to take care of Morris, so i can leave and rejoin him when he's feeling more the thing. But meanwhile... Your body language, your attitude, your assumption that I'm withholding on you. I am not welcome here. I do not stay in a house where I am not trusted. Its maybe a cultural thing. I'm sure you can't help it. But i can."

He leaned forward, just a little, the smile curling into a snarl and then vanishing. "I'm not interested in working with you. I'm not going to take your orders, I'm not going to be here under suffrage. I could work with Morris - and when he's awake, I will, if he wants me to. Until then, I can scout for supplies, look for more weapons. Make myself useful - and not have to answer your unasked questions. Morris was my friend before I died with my wife's murder. He lighten's my spirit. You don't. I don't want to spend any more time with people who only knew me after my spirit died."

Viveca's lips thin into a narrow line and she seems about ready to speak when Frank mentions his wife. She takes a deep breath and finally speaks in a tightly controlled tone.

"I'm genuinely sorry for your loss - and it's the only reason I'm not being a total sarcastic bitch right now. Fine. You want to head off on your own - well, you're gonna leave by the front door and you're gonna wait for one minute first."

Turning away, Viveca heads towards the stairs down. She's not sure that Frank won't try something when her back's turned - but she shows him enough trust to let him be behind her as she heads towards the front hall closet. Opening it, she reaches in and roots about for a couple of seconds, finally pulling out a stiff vest shape and offering it over.

"Bulletproof vest. Won't necessarily do much against these 'monsters' you've been seeing but it won't hurt you to have the extra protection."

"I appreciate the sentiment but the fireman's coat might be more protection and less weight... I should have made Morris get ..." Frank stops, listening. "So... any outside entrances to the basement that weren't closed? I think you just got another visitor."

He looks up at where they left Morris, torn. "I dont' want to leave him unguarded. you should wear the vest - and lets go see what it is - if it's something we don't want to mess with, we lock the basement door and leave it be, agreed?"

Viveca looks sour at the rejection of the offer - but the sounds from the basement are a very effective distraction. She tenses, listening, and shakes her head at Frank's question.

"No outside entrances to the basement - at least, nothing but windows too small to let anything but a child in."

She doesn't argue his suggestion about the vest - it's a damn good one. If he's not going to use it, she'd rather have it on than go wholly unprotected. She shrugs into it quickly, tightening it down to fit and takes out the gun, looking over at Frank.

"I'll go first," she says, then gives him the ghost of a smile. "My roof, more or less. My risks." Whether they like each other or not, she's still going to try to protect him as much as she can while he's here.

"If it gets too much for us to handle, get Morris the hell out of here," she says, heading towards the basement door and reaching to the handle.

There is a growling sound from the darkness of the basement like that of a large canine, however what ever it is hasn't wandered into sight as of yet, it lurks in the dark corner of the basement.

"Aim for the head if you can. Morris told me that you have to kick it a few times to make sure its dead even if it looks dead. if you get it down - i can finish it, so if you can even just cut its legs out from under it, we're good." Frank unholstered his axe and stood a few paces behind her...then sighed. "How about i open the doors for you, since you have a ranged weapon?"

Viveca's lips quirk into a small, crooked smile and she comments dryly, "instant gentleman, just add a squirrel in the basement?" Then she drops back into seriousness so fast it's like she never joked at all and she adds, "sounds like an idea, go for it."

Despite her joking she finds her palms are clammy on the gun. When Frank opens the door she's already got the pistol aimed down the stairs - if there's someone down there, she's got an excellent angle to get several shots into them before they can possibly get up the steps.

Only problem is it's kinda dark down there.

Viveca hits the lightswitch at the top of the stairs.

The Creature the moves out of the shadow of one of the shelves is dog-like, it has pink skin that appears to be bloated and peeling in places, it's hairs seems to be falling out in patches large patches, and one of it's legs is being dragged behind the rest of it. black the creature seems to be suffering from frost bite.

it will suddenly make a dash towards the door and Vivi snarling maddly

"Holy..." Viveca says in a gasp as she sees the shambling parody of a dog, eyes widening in shock. It's pretty damn big to have gotten through the tiny basement windows. She spends a half second goggling at the animal, then it lunges towards the stairs.

Lifting the gun a little to perfect the aim, she pulls the trigger once, hardly waiting to see if the dog goes down before she corrects for the kick-back and aims again, pulling again. The gun's not a terribly heavy one - it's not going to stop a bear, but she'll keep putting shots into the dog until it goes down or it makes its way up the stairs.

The creature is pushed back by the shots however it keeps moving forward dripping red blood and moving forward slower then it was before however it is still growling and still moving forward. Blood and paw prints trailing behind it.

"****," Viveca mutters in alarm as she continues to fire into the creature. three shots, four shots, five, more - the gun keeps firing and bullets keep hitting home into the putrid, damaged flesh of the dog-like monstrosity but while the creature slows it does not quite stop, closing the distance despite its faltering.

The gun clicks uselessly and Viveca repeats, "****!" with far more passion than before.
