Walter was adopted 2 months before the Massacre at the orphanage. The adults who adopted him pleasant and largely plain by anybodies standards, they decided it was for the best to not tell him of what had happened at the Orphanage. He began writing about a year after he left still as a child, the nightmares from his sleep urging for a way to get out. The stories were dark and strange for a child, almost up there with King, Lovecraft, and Poe. Eventually he managed to start being published as a horror writer at a young age. His quick wit and strange sarcastically up-beat attitude amazing people in that he wrote such dark stories. The years have gone by and a whole series of books written his publisher is pushing for another sequel, but he wants something new, different, something that will pull in more people. But the dreams aren't the same these days. They are still there, but they aren't as "horrible". Not quite Jaded, but needing new inspiration Walter decided to try something to help his publicity, A book signing in Silent Hill as well as a tour around the old town to try and help crank up the inspiration.. What could go wrong?
Ok.. One more time. lets see if i got it right this time...

Background Jack's earliest memories were at the Orphanage. He was never very sure how he'd come to be there and he'd spent most of his life trying to convinec himself it didn't matter. Really, he suspected in the back of his mind he was just unwanted, unneeded, superfulous...
When he was adopted, he was adopted by a fantastic family, the Simmonses. They were kind, patient, loving, and he resented every second of it. He was always in trouble for something with someone. Neighbors, the police, school. He considered it hell on earth. In retrospect, he couldn't say why he behaved that way, his shrink said it wasn't uncommon for adopted children to lash out like that, that sometimes they felt so bad about themselves they took it out on others. If his original parents didn't want him, how worthless must he be and how dare these people pretend they give a **** about him.
The day he turned 18, he was at the military recruitment office. Two days after graduating high school, he was on his way to Paris Island for boot camp. Life in the Marine Corps is what he needed to turn his life around. He learned self-respect. He learned respect for others and authority. He made ammends with his family, he excelled in the Corps, and he climbed the ranks quickly, eventually becoming a Master Gunnery Sergeant. He served all over the world, both Iraq wars, and several military actions. He was a decorated soldier including multiple purple hearts and serves as an infantry unit leader, commanding over 180 troops.
When the dreams started, he applied for leave. He had to ask for some favors, but he was granted the time and was on a plane from Baghdad back to the US and to Silent Hill.

Background
Terri Swaane was a child at Sheppard's Orphanage and was adopted one year to the day before the horrible tragedy struck. A bi-racial child, she was placed with Caucasian parents and as such there was always a slight bit of dischord when it came to cultural norms inside the home, versus those outside the home. However, she loved her parents dearly, and took to the expectations they had of her quite well - dance, drama, and music classes were all faithfully attended clear up until high school, when she abandoned everything except the dance.
In college she took up modeling alongside a communications degree, and then promptly got a job at a small dance studio in Atlanta, which utilized neither her bachelor's degree, nor the dieting restrictions of the modeling. It did, however, garner a certain amount of popularity with the men about town, and she's been in and out of romance ever since.
Now, at the age of 36, she has been married four times to three different men (the last marriage she will say was a mistake worth making twice). She works, or rather worked as a dance instructor at a belly dance studio up until this most recent divorce, and is currently working out the arrangements to open her own studio with this latest alimony arrangement. Somewhat selfish, and more than a bit of a flirt, Teresa, or Terri as she likes to be called, almost always has a male friend in attendance, even if she's not currently attached. She's also been known to discreetly entertain the occasional female friend, but finds that they are generally more drama than they are worth.
Terri also has a bit of a drinking problem that started last year when she discovered that her then-husband had picked up a liking for younger women during their time apart (while she was married to husband number 3, actually). It's just a little thing - a bloody mary with breakfast, a daquiri at dinner... the mid afternoon margarita. Not really a problem, you understand. Just something to be social and pass the time.
She is still quite atheletic, petite, but very pretty. She doesn't remember much about her time at the orphanage - preferring to forget that she was ever an orphan in the first place, now that she has a measure of popularity to fall back on in the "real" world.

After being adopted from Silent Hill Until his grandfather died, Frank was a total and complete Rez Rat - raised in the traditions. Frank was a fairly happy kid - mostly he would just go totally into denial about anything bad that was going on and often, it worked out for him. He was adopted by fairly whitebread parents - the Wilsons - who did not insist that he use their name, and who encouraged him in keeping his native culture fresh. He managed to get into the service special forces as a medic, then when he was severely wounded, (leg aches in cold weather but its healed up pretty well. ugly scars though.) switched full time to medicine, and by the time his term was up he had been an intern for 3 years. He married a waitress and they had just gotten a new home. It was invaded while he was at work. She was killed. He was in the news. People who follow very messy murderers might recognize him.

A child at Shepherds Orphanage, Tobias saw the trouble start, he saw it in his nightmares, saw it in the faces of those around him. When he left, he vowed to never look back, fighting to survive in a world without support, bolstered only by his own insanity, he grew tough to survive.
He promised never to look back, but what adult ever keeps their promises?

Carl Simmons was adopted from the Silent Hill Orphanage just before the tragedy, and raised with a loving family. He was never the brightest child, but he had a peculiar aptitude with the trades, and knew from an early age that he was going to be working with his hands.
He turned his talents to becoming a jack of all trades craftsman, for which he earned a meager salary. He always looked at what others were able to make of their lives, and always wondered where he went wrong, that he lives in a house that is little more than a shack. Carl will always be envious of the talents of others.

Sawyer didn't know his parents. Not his real ones. He didn't know where he was born as he was left as a baby at the orphanage. The one thing Sawyer has always known is he was born to stunt. At his stay at the orphanage he was reigning champ on most bones broken (36). All by his own idea of 'fun'. He was adopted by the Glass family. Parents and one other child were all lawyers.
Upon turning 18 he left his family and the only life he's ever known to go to hollywood and be a famous movie stuntman. which he achieved by being a stuntman in some very famous movies and one b-movie where he played a boxer. As he's getting older, Sawyer feels soon to be outdated by CGI. He keeps having horrible nightmares of SIlent hill, the town he grew up in as an orphan and most of his early teenage life. Silent hill hasn't crossed his mind in years, but he feels a need to come back.

You where a child at Sheppard's Orphanage and where adopted at least a year before the horrible tragedy struck where all but three of the children where murdered. You left only months before.
After being adopted from Silent Hill he went to live with the quite wealthy Brown family who gave him a good education at well thought-of schools, finally finishing with a degree in psychology. Setting up practice first in Los Angeles he made a nice life for himself, marrying his highschool girlfriend and having two children together, a son and a daughter. But then the dreams started, first he wrote it off to simple stress from setting up practice and building a life and he started taking sleeping pills to get a proper night's sleep. But they wouldn't go away... and the pills became a need to just go to sleep at night, a fact he hid well from the outside world and even his family. He withdrew emotionally more and more, alienating himself in the process of years from his wife and kids until finally she had enough and left him, the children choosing to go with their mother. In the end, he decided he suffered from a form of survivors guilt for having left shortly before the murders and he needed to go back to Silent Hill to deal with his past. Under the pretence of setting up a practice in town to help there with the still existing problems he moves back to the town where he was young...

After being adopted from Silent Hill:
Julie was left at the orphanage as a baby. Literally nothing is in the records regarding her birth parents, although from what the police records indicated it seemed like there were some mildly suspicious rumours about her being a dumpster baby left for dead by an underage unwed mother. She doesn't know and doesn't think about it, much. She was adopted by age 4 and doesn't remember a whole lot about the orphanage. She knows all about what happened though. Living in the next town over when everybody knows that's where you came from leaves you wide open for all kinds of teasing. Kids can be so cruel. She was adopted by the Witcher family from Sheppard's Glen, and took to the family like a duck to water. Paul Witcher, patriarch of the family and Julie's adopted grandad, owns and operates Witcher Transport. Anything Anywhere Anytime, they're the people you want delivering it. Julie is very close to her grandad and is usually the person he sends on any extremely sensitive deliveries. It pays to send the employee that knows intrinsically the family ideal of "don't ask don't tell".

Background: Viveca was adopted by Shane Moody, her mother's partner on the police force after the woman's death attempting to rescue a snowmobiler who went through the ice on Toluca Lake.
Raised by Moody and his wife Cindi, Viveca has followed the family tradition - adopted and birth - and gone into police work. While she's stayed fairly close to Silent Hill, she does not work there - it's hard enough being the daughter of a lawman, the last thing she needed was to be the daughter of the boss, too.
