Frank hears a sound on the road behind him, a scraping and the sound of foot steps, a figure moving stumbling a little through the fog and the snow moving slowly towards Frank.
It's eerie despite everything else the only sound Frank can hear is the scraping and the foot steps.
"Frank? Is that really you?" The voice isn't terribly familiar the figure walks out of the fog he has on a dress shirt and tie and is dragging along a pipe with him he's looking at Frank a little oddly, "I haven't seen you since I was seven." He says in a suspicious tone.
Frank tried not to stiffen up - someone who knew him? But as a child? Maybe they didnt' know he was a murderer - and a wanted one, at that, by now.
"Frank Blackarrow - thats me. Seven...? Were you at the Orphanage? That was a long time ago. You have the advantage, man, how many Apache were there, after all... which kid were you, the one that was always in a body cast or the one that ate the worm?" He actually managed a slight smile.
"Oh Right Morris, the kid who was always in trouble for lying, not that I think that was very fair I never told a believable lie." He says with a bit of a smirk, "What are you doing in this place?" He says still seeming a little nervous he looks over his shoulder from moment to moment.
"Long time, Morris." He offered a handshake. "Being lost, mostly. Trying to find a place to get a decent burger. Hitching to the Reservation - I've had enough of the modern world i think." He shrugged. "...Why are you toting a length of pipe?"
Morris will shake Frank's hand and then look at him. "You haven't been around much, I haven't seen anyone else in the town and it's full of monsters." Morris sighs and shakes his head, "At least I have no other word for the... things I've seen."
In the fog behind Morris who is now paying attention to Frank there is a female figure, her hips sway in a manner that would be considered sexy if it didn't seem just a little too exaggerated.
The figure moves closer it wears a dress in the fog it looks like it might be blood red however when she can be seen clearly she has no face just a gaping mouth from where her eyebrows should be to her chin.
She raises sharp nails and lunges towards Morris who is closest to her.
"I went into the service ...Monsters?" Frank blinked. This from the kid that lied all the damned time? But Frank believed in monsters. His grandfather had told him they were real, and so they were. "What kind of monsters? What did you see?"
His eyes widened. "Oh, i see what you mean! Move!"
If possible and necessary he'll yank Morris out of the way.
Crap, all i have is a length of chain... and that's mostly for distraction than anything else....

Morris turns and let's Frank pull him out of the way he bring the pipe up and then down on the creature, he does so again but he looks very much like he's starting to get pretty tired.
Fran flung the chain held in his left hand in the creature's face, hopefully driving it back, then he will nab for the pipe. "Get behind me and watch for more. I'm fresh - you're not."
If he can, he'll kick for a knee and watch for an opportunity to smack it in the head - or if the pipe is long, even better - no risk to his foot. So many monsters his grandfather had told him stories of - no face, all mouth - hungry ...what else... why couldnt' he remember how to kill all these things? Oh, yeah, because he wasn't Coyote or Hare or Raven - gonna make it tougher.
Morris backs off and will stumble away as Frank wails on the creature he will catch his breath in gasps. "When it's down stop on it until it stops moving." Morris tells him and looks out at the street.
After several strikes the creature falls to the ground and starts to thrash and twitch.
Frank pins it in place with the pipe if he's able and will most certainly finish it off with a stomp to the throat and/or head if he can.
"Alrighty. Monsters, okay then. Grandfather told me i'd have days like this and when i grew up i assumed he was just trying to scare me."
You're tired - and we're under equipped. This ain't night of the living dead so lets not run to the first deserted farmhouse we find, eh? Rather find a hardware store." He managed another almost smile. "Guess i'm not going to get that hamburger i wanted. Damn."
"I was here to get to the clinic. Just in case I could find anything there. I can take you to the hard ware store I know where it is." Morris will say and he will start walking, "They won't follow you too far if you out run them I've been hold up in my apartment most of the time."
Morris shakes his head, "We'll have to catch up later I guess, sorry I haven't seen a lot of food. I can't remember the last time i felt hungry..."
"Thats not good, Morris. Gotta keep your bloodsugar up - keep you from petering out at the wrong time - like when monsters are catching up. Grandfather always said things like that, they draw shapes from us, from our spirits. From our nightmare worlds." He grimaces, thinking of all the spirits that go after warriors who've gotten a bit too into the bloodshed ...and those who failed to protect their families. "Monsters... that just freakin figures. Out of the frying pan, y'know?"
He kept his eyes peeled - it wasn't that different from being on patrol in a hotzone ... or from being in the 'social' areas of a high security prison for the extremely violent, for that matter. Great, i'm in my element.
"I take it you haven't been having a good day?" Morris says walking over to the Ridgeview medical Clinic. "Do you mind if we stop here first before moving on? it was where I was heading." There are bars in the windows meaning that it would have been impossible for Morris to break in with just the pipe.
"Is it even open? If not, hardware store would help out - hacksaw, sledge hammer..." He looked around. "If we can't get in, then off to the hardware store, right?"
Morris takes a key out of his pocket and unlocks the door. "Yeah sure." He says and very slowly begins to open the door. "You don;t have to go first but please come a little close just in case." He says and begins to make his way inside.
"Dude. You're exhausted. I don't have a problem going first." He blinked. "Where did you get a key? Nevermind. I'll take hostiles, you look for what you need. Why are we here, exactly?"
He will take the lead if morris allows, but will go as Morris directs.
"I wanted to stalk up on anything useful. it's the clinic it will have you know.. medical things. I figured that once I found the key I might find something useful." He says.
the Clinic appears to be still it looks pretty normal. you enter into the waiting room the walls are painted blue. a reception desk sits apart from everything else.
Morris starts pulling something else out it appears he has a Revolver as well. "It doesn't have a lot of bullets left but it might be useful." He pulls it for a bit and sighs. "You're right I'm exhosted." He holds it out to Frank.
"Well, then a trip to K-mart for bullets... do they even have a K-mart in this town?" He'll take it - he's found they work best on people though - animals don't know what it is and a handgun often won't take it down, and monsters, he's not sure about."
"What - you're a doctor? Or you're looking for some drugs?" Nonjudgemental there - but it amused him for a moment that Morris could be in the same profession he was at one time.
"I wanted to see what they have for pain killers and disinfectant encase I got seriously injured by one of those things. No I'm not a doctor, yes I have problems properly applying bandages, however I figured why let this place go to waist I'm going to at least need something from here in time." Morris finds a place to sit down and rest for a moment.
"I'm a doctor." He couldnt' even remember if he'd been removed from that profession's rosters - he hadn't cared - well, about anything - in what seemed like centuries. "Are you injured right now? Hell, i haven't had a chance to wash up from the last accident..." Frank sighed. "How did you get here, anyway? Do you have a car? might be a lot safer cruising around town if we had a vehical."
"My car won't start I tried, I went to work one day and when I got out late there was fog everywhere I went to the car and it wouldn't start so I decided to just walk home, I figured something was weird because it was snowing." Morris shakes his head a little. "It's like one long nightmare I can't wake up from."
"Not Thirsty. I don't think I'm wounded now, I hurt from swinging the pipe around but I'm not bleeding nothing is broken." Morris shakes his head. "I haven;t felt hungry or thirsty in days now that I think about it." Morris is silent for a moment, "So if your a Doctor can you tell what we might need?"
"Yeah, actually, I was an EMT and then a trauma doctor - Lets check out the emergency room, its likely to have the basics there, then we can find the pharmacy and grab some antibiotics and a few other things."
... not...thirsty. Okay. Frank was starting to get worried - that was just a little creepy. "Got any issues i should know about, Morris? Heart problems, diabetes, any allergies?"
He started looking for the ever-present colored lines that would lead him to the right area.
right now he's just looking for the lines that guide people to the various parts of hospitals - and to make sure they're something familiar. I mean, if he sees a line of bees or something instead of redline, green line, yellow line... he might take pause. or no lines at all.
frankly, he wants to check the closest by areas, look for other people, take it slow - hopefully with Morris along with him - alone is not good. Frank watches monster movies! never split up!
This is mainly a small clinic so all there is, are some examine rooms in the back, a small reception area and and office out to the side. There are probably some x-ray rooms in the back just encase and if a family doctor wants to order a test but not send someone to the hospital.
Keeping an eye on Morris, he'll go room by room. If none are set up with an emergency area, he'll have to raid one of the treatment rooms - not terribly hopeful now though - this looks more like where you get your kid diagnosed with head lice than somewhere you take a wounded person.
Morris is sitting right now he seems to be interested in sitting, however when Frank starts to get out of sight he does get up to follow the other man. There are small examine areas, they have some supplies for tests, there are cabinets however places that should be stalked seemed to be mainly empty. Frank can find some pain killers and some disinfectant.
As he gets to the last examine area he can see something is wrong, the chair for the Doctor to sit in is covered in blood and is seems to move out from a splatter pattern there.
"It's Eerie isn't it?" Morris says and he chuckles a little, "I never get use to stuff like that no matter how often I see it." The blood looks like it's maybe been there for half a day or so. Morris leans against one of the barriers and puts his head in his hand, his chuckling sounds a little like sobbing but he takes in a deep breath. "What's next?"
"I'm not sure i understand, Morris. Eerie isn't really the word for it - Gruesome is more like it. Did the monsters just eat everyone in town? Is that why its so deserted?"
He'll check the desk and look for anything that's not nailed down (old rpg joke) - and maybe something like booze (left hand lower drawer, that's where most docs keep their stash) and/or bottled water - dry swallowing pills is no fun. Even distilled water would work, though it would be pretty flat tasting.
"Well ... probably get half of one of these pills down you for your muscle pain. Then I'm open to suggestions. Bet Happy Burger's not open anymore, either. Damn." He sighed, mourning his chance to get real food. Just his luck. Escape from prison the day the zombie apocalypse starts.
"if you don't have a firm plan - Hardware store, nursery or garden shop, police station, firehouse are all good, whichever's closest. Hell, even a dog pound might have a rifle. Any of those would get us a lighter and easier to use tool than a lead pipe. Hey, look around while we're moseying through and see if any of the 'in case of fire' cases here have an axe!"
He looked thoughtful for a long moment. "Y'know, the People back on the reservation - the name for this town was 'Place of Silent Spirits.' You were supposed to be able to talk to the dead here. My people thought the white folk actually living in the place were kind of crazy - you don't *live* where the dead speak. But why was it called silent spirits if they talked? Crazy stuff."
"I don't think a monster necessarily did that, I was in Old Silent Hill. remember that one lady, a little crazy had the dog that you always thought would drip your face off. I was going by there, the dog was put down years ago an a new family lives there, dog house out front was taken down. Here that da mn doghouse is back but it's covered in blood like someone blew up that dog."
Morris shakes his head. Frank can find some small bottles labelled Health Drink and yes some bottled water.
"Happy Burger is still here it's been taken over by the old owner's Nephew still have burgers as big as your head." Morris shrugs a little. "My plan is to find Karen. You been having dreams about her too?"
For a moment - all warmth vanished, all humanity. His dreams were usually bitter and often horrifying memories, playing over and over in sharp relief. They almost always ended the same way - him stumbling into where his dead wife lay, the walls painted with blood and body fluids, and a man crouched over her, slowly looking up - and smiling. His face, in black and red war paint - or maybe black war paint and blood.
"I try not to think about my dreams once i'm awake." Frank said, his voice distant and cold as the moon. "Its better for everyone that way. But i've been dreaming about silent hill and the orphanage... Its the only part of my dreams that I think it would be worth talking about to anyone but a headshrinker or a priest."
He took a deep breath and let it out slowly, pushing away that part of himself for now. Morris didn't know, wasn't there - letting himself drop into the burning cold, detached part of himself was not a good idea right now.
"Well, maybe we'll luck out and Happy Burger will still be open and not a disgusting mess. I wonder what happened to this doctor. From the splash pattern ... doesn't look like he went out easy."
If he can find a first aid kit and/or doctor's bag, he'll grab that and tote it - otherwise it all goes in the gym bag his late patient gave him. That lightened his mood, just a little. A gift from a man who should have had more selfish concerns. "Okay. Take one of these and sip a little water, if you want more, drink it, slowly." He offered a halved painkiller to Morris. "I'm worried that you haven't eaten but if you're not hungry - we're all good for now. if you get woozy we'll just find a place, hold up and let you get a nap - i'll keep watch."
Morris will take the pills, but he won't do a lot more he's being a little quiet, after a moment he response, "My Apartment is where I've been holding up. Do you want to go to Happy Burger or the hardware store first?"
**There is a red cabinet in the back containing a fire Axe. and he can find a Doctor's Bag for carrying things in. **
"Bonus! Fire axe!" He would aquire himself a fireaxe! "You want axe or pipe? Axe might be easier on your shoulder."
"You want to go back to your apartment? Hell, what's closest? we can sketch out a map and do this in an orderly fashion. I'll be honest, Morris. My plan is survival. I dont' have one past that. If Happy Burger's open, we can go there any time - and if its not, no use going there."
"Well nothing is really open, no one is around." Morris says with a frown, "but it doesn't mean that things are still around. Some times you even leave something one way and you get back and it's changed. Everything is strange."
Morris will get up. "I've been pretty good with the pipe I like the reach it has. All the better not to get too close to the monsters with."
"That works. We find a hardwarestore or a nursery, we can get a polesaw, too - push them away. You poke em back hard, i'll whack them to bits. Teamwork. You know the town better than I. If we get split up, we can meet ...say back at the graveyard? near the entrance. After you show me where your apartment is, we can use that as a meeting place."
He handed off the pipe. "I'm not bad with an axe. Prefer a machete though. Heh. We get to an athletic store, we could pick up some bows. You remember when i made those little bows for us all? Man, i got into trouble. That was stupid, that kid that was a mass of bandages all the time nearly put his eye out. How the hell do you nearly put your own eye out with a bow, thats what i wanna know?"
"I know where the Hardware store is My Apartment is just down on Katz... yeah I remember that." Morris will chuckle, "You where older then most of us so you taught us things, I don't know if I can remember how to shoot a boy but I certainly had more fun then I had in awhile."
He seems throughtful. "You know if we go to my place we pass the Silent Hill fire station. together we might find a way inside."
"Sounds good - they've got all kinds of crap we can snag. and I have the key." He holds up the axe and grins. "Lets finish up here and go - not sure there's anything else for us here or not. Anything else you wanted to look for?"
"I wouldn't mind checking out the office to see if there's anything of interest in there." Morris will say and makes his way towards the front of the Clinic again. He will go over and check the office door finding it unlocked he'll step inside.
"I just want to see if the clinic has anything interesting have you ever heard about White Claudia?" He asks starting to go through desks that aren't unlocked. White Claudia is a flower that was used for rituals it puts one in tune with the spirit world, it can also have some strange negative effects.
"Yeah. There was some drug trade out of here with that as a focus, wasn't there? Flower's used by shaman to get closer to the spirits. Thats not a good thing for people who are trying to get high."
"Yeah well around the time the trade was getting started you want to guess what happened?" Morris asks and fiddles through some notes. "I'd like to say it's not connected. I was investigating the events of the time to see if there was any other incident like the murders at the Orphanage..."
"You think it's related then?" Frank frowned. "Superstitiously speaking, you get in touch with the wrong spirit and you could end up ... in some bad, bad juju. The spirits here, my grandfather said they weren't casper the friendly ghost."
